Scene from 12/11/05 meeting Welcome to the Home Page of the FLABBY'S COMMUNITY COUNCIL. We meet at Flabby's Schnitzelburg at the corner of Hickory and Lydia Streets in Germantown, Ky. Meetings are now being held on Sunday afternoons at (or around) 5:30 PM (our "winter schedule"). --- MEETING CALLED TO ORDER--- Dan Schulz called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was proudly said. Roll call was taken and 40 members were present. Sheryl reported on our current financial situation. -------------------OLD BUSINESS------------------- Kristi Chism has volunteered to put together our First Annual FCC Pool Tournament. No firm date has been determined as yet. More details to follow. Ronnie Texas reported back to the group on the annual Christmastime trip to Actor's Theatre. This year the show was "A Christmas Carole". A good time was had by all. Thanks to Ronnie and Beckie for pulling this together. -------------------NEW BUSINESS------------------- ---BEER ROUND DURING MEETING--- Don O'Loughlin made a motion that Greg Haner buy each of the members that is in good standing a beverage of their choice. The motion was seconded and passed with no dissenting votes. No new members this week. Well folks, it is that time of year again. Time for our annual display of disturbing the peace in the neighborhood. Following our meeting on Sunday, December 18 a number of FCC members will be going around the Germantown area singing Christmas Carols. Anyone wishing to participate should get to Flabby's around 6:00 or 6:30 PM so as to not miss this blessed event. ---OCTOBERFEST / SCHNITZELBURG WALK--- Some discussion took place regarding the possibility of putting together an Octoberfest celebration to coincide with the fall Schnitzelburg Walk. Stay tuned for more details. Tee shirts are now on sale. Short sleeved are $6 and long sleeved are $8. Most sizes are available so get one soon as they will not last long at this price. In addition to the re-naming of our annual spring outing to the Bats game to "Bernie Vaughn Night", we will be creating a plaque to be placed in Flabby's to honor our good friend Bernie Vaughn. Bernie was an avid Bats fan and always went with us to the game in the spring. This year we hope to expand the attendance by opening it up to all persons in the Germantown community and all friends or family of Bernie's. The plaque will serve as a reminder to all coming in Flabby's of how much he will be missed in the neighborhood. The annual FCC Super Bowl Party will be held on Sunday, February 5. This year's Party will be held at Swiss Hall, 719 Lynn Street. Below is a link to a map on this location. More details to follow as we get closer to the date. ---COMMUNITY SERVICE--- We are always looking for a few volunteers to serve on the various community service projects that we have in our hopper. If you would like to see samples of some of our previous projects, check out the Flabby's Accomplishments link on our site. This will give you some idea of the projects we worked during the year as a group. This year, for the first time ever, we are reaching out to the internet community to solicit money for our Holidays fund raiser. It is important for you to know that all money collected goes back to our community. None of the FCC members are paid in any way (other than, in some cases, the possible re-imbursement of their money spent on items such as envelopes and postage). We have a large number of charities and groups that we hope to support so any contributions would be very much appreciated. Should you wish to contribute, please send contributions to the following address: FCC Community Fund Raiser Celebrating birthdays in the month of December are: Celebrating anniversaries in the month of December are: The normal weekly attendance prizes now come in the form of MONEY. Names get drawn and each person whose name is drawn gets to choose one cup from a number of cups. Under one of those cups is a colored piece of paper indicating that person has won the accumulated amount of money in the attendance pot. Two contestants this week were Willie Stover and Vic Korfage. Neither guessed the correct cup and the pot grows for our next meeting. $110 was collected in the 1/2 and 1/2 pot. $55 went to the FCC and $55 went to Tony Franz. Though not a particularly good picture of Tony, shown below is a picture of Tony getting his lucky ticket number validated by Larry Duddy prior to his collecting his $55. ---MEETING CLOSED-- Our next meeting will be held on Sunday, December 18 at or around 5:30 PM or when Dan, (The GREAT POOHBAH) calls the meeting to order. If you are in the area, stop on by. We would love to have you !!! |
